Cleaning and Oiling Durasoft Material

I have some GP95 Cooper pads from the 80s and a set of Brown gloves and they all appear to be made of Durasoft (maybe the Browns are suede leather, I don't know). I want to oil them so the pads slide better (read: slide at all) but first I'd like to clean them. What would you all suggest for cleaning puckmarks and general crud from this kind of material? And another question - what will happen if I oil Durasoft? Anyone know what color it will turn? Will oil have any strange effects on it?

Thanks!

Do not oil Dura-soft gear.

You could try varsol and a match.

You could use Dubbin on the Brown Leather Gloves.

Dura soft has a tendency to be much more absorbent than leather. They would soak up water (or whatever gets on them) and would become very heavy. Oils would soak in and not come out.

talked to glen miller today and he said dry silicone or scotchgard do the trick. he said oils can break down this kind of material, which is also called Nash.
