Plasture "curing" time before prepping mold?
Hi everyone:
I have accomplished a few steps in making a mold ready for layup and could use some of the expertise on here.
I used plaster bandages to make my mold (no problems). I also added plaster to take the male part of the plaster bandgage mold I first made.
I used drywall compound for the second phase & it seems like its not drying as I thought it would. Does anyone know how long this should take? Its been roughly 2 days and its solidifying a bit. Also could I use a heat gun to speed up the process?
Thanks in advance.

Plaster cures as a chemical reaction, Drywall "Mud" drys by evaporation and should not be used in thicknesses exceeding 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. If you are trying to make your plug with compound, you'll probably be disapointed with the results.

Thanks Puffy. That cleared everything up. I immediately removed the mud from the cast mold & will purchase some real plaster today.

Laid the plaster today. Looks great & cured very quickly. I was also able to use some mud to fill in & smooth out some spots.
Thanks again. Will keep you posted.
