They call up people like Tony and think it can be done for 250.00.. Add up your total hours start to finish and then see what the hourly rate is when your done. It is not worth it unless you charge at least 650 - 1000. Including laying up, cutting sanding painting etc. It IS worth it if you do it for yourself though because labour is free. Materials aren't much.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Plante)Sat, 17 Jan 2009 11:49:53 +0000 Re: How to: Mold an existing mask??https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p242591,from=rss#post242591https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p242591,from=rss#post242591Here's how far I've gotten so far. Two more plaster molds to do ,one of which will be my "lovely" face/head, then sanding and clay tweaking of all four, and I'm ready to start making some masks. I started to clean off my bench and I'm going to get my fiber supplies, and I think I'm good to go. nondisclosed_email@example.com (radbear)Fri, 16 Jan 2009 23:36:10 +0000 Re: How to: Mold an existing mask??https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p242522,from=rss#post242522https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p242522,from=rss#post242522Here's mold #2 before "tweaking"... nondisclosed_email@example.com (radbear)Tue, 13 Jan 2009 18:25:17 +0000 Re: How to: Mold an existing mask??https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p242495,from=rss#post242495https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p242495,from=rss#post242495Removal of the tape and the finished plaster mold. You may also want to lay a block of wood into the wet plaster. That will give you a handle to grab when pulling the plaster out, as well it will act as a stand for the plug to sit on. I used this method on a number of masks, including Dave Dryden's original combo, I still have the plaster plug. nondisclosed_email@example.com (masksbyoldbear)Mon, 12 Jan 2009 00:22:43 +0000 Re: How to: Mold an existing mask??https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p242474,from=rss#post242474https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p242474,from=rss#post242474Are you saying to build up the back of the mask with tape to hold the plaster in side the mask..? Remove all padding. Tape shut all holes, from the inside of the mask. (Basic hockey tape works fine). Coat the inside of the mask with a thin layer of petroleum jelly. Cover the back opening of the mask from one side to the other, again using tape. Work upwards from the chin, and down from th etop of the head. Leave an opening of about 6 inches. Bridge the opening by going tape to tape, leaving a square opening. Support the mask, face down, with towels, foam, etc... Pour in plaster of paris. When the plaster is set, pull off the mask.    nondisclosed_email@example.com (masksbyoldbear)Mon, 03 Nov 2008 00:05:33 +0000 Re: How to: Mold an existing mask??https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p240743,from=rss#post240743https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p240743,from=rss#post240743Ditto,play around with a crappy one first(like you would have one) nondisclosed_email@example.com (sprayboy)Mon, 27 Oct 2008 03:00:33 +0000 Re: How to: Mold an existing mask??https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p240725,from=rss#post240725https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p240725,from=rss#post240725Send it to Tony.
