Toe Strap Opinions
I have to decide on my Keneskys whether to have the Toe Buckles sewn (Like Sandy's originals) Or have them Rivited. Did Kenesky ever rivet the toe buckles or were they all sewn on by the legendary pad company. I realise they might be stronger with the rivets, but I like originality..
Opinions..

Re: Toe Strap Opinions
I would go with sewn in straps. They would be easy for you to replace as well.

Re: Toe Strap Opinions
I like the look of sewn in straps. Also makes the pad "simpler" & more old school IMO if that makes sense.
I find that riviting in the strap will rust, making it a pain in the arse to change.
On my modern gear I prefer sewn in toe assemblies... so I'm a bit biased. I don't think strength will be such an issue if its sewn in thoroughly.

Re: Toe Strap Opinions
You mean the one above the toe strap? Yeah you need that one don't you? Otherwise the pad does not say down and create the scoop or curve toe effect.

Re: Toe Strap Opinions
I say go sewn as well.
I think Sandy is asking if you are having the boot strap sewn in place as well.
I don't know whether this would have been something that was done stock on pads back in the day but I greatly prefer it.
I find that playing in pads where the boot straps are not sewn in place is maddening and the straps moves around on your foot and I at least with find the buckle winding up in some strange places.
Could just be me though.

Re: Toe Strap Opinions
Well the bootstrap on these pads is not original. It looks to be a retrofit.. See the non matching buckle. Not to mention someone cut circles in the leather and then glued/sewed the circle back in on either side?. Both the Buckle and the Strap leather and holes do not match the other straps. Roger likely had this done?
I am going to leave mine stock (2 up 4 down and toe strap) as they are a novelty.

Re: Toe Strap Opinions
Actually is there anyone that can absolutely confirm that Kenesky infact did sew the toe straps on? I do not want to get it done if Kenesky didn't do it.
The buckles on them do not seem to match the other either?
Anyone?
