Steve, what kind of plexi glass is that? It looks like an UFC fight... :)

Re: Goalie 21 Bourdons
It's Chicken wire. I remember alot of rinks that didn;t have glass. They had chicken wire around the boards. The looks a little more industrial strength though. Like the fence stuff.

Re: Goalie 21 Bourdons
Yeap -real fencing!!! Fortunately the puck would die and just drop down when hitting the fence - I've played in arenas where the puck would come off like a sling shot.
This is the Abe Stark Center in Coney Island Brooklyn NYC. It was the home rink to the Metropolitan Ice Hockey League team Brooklyn Stars. Nearly every player who played in the NHL or the minors from NYC in the 70's passed thru this arena including Joe and Brian Mullin - Richie Hanson - Chris Ahearns, Val James and Paul Skidmore. The Met league was the equivalent to a fast JR B league and the two top teams The Stars and the Westsiders(all the Mullin brothers played for the Westsiders)were Jr A caliber. I believe an all star team played against one of the Ontario Lague teams maybe the Marlies - outplayed them only to lose 1-0 to I believe a junior goalie by the name of Palmateer.

Re: Goalie 21 Bourdons
during my freshman year in highschool I played at abe stark i loved the old feeling about it, It kinda felt like you were walking into history, although by the time i played there in 1994 there was plexi glass. anyway there was a certain feeling about the place its hard to describe kinda like when you would walk into clove lakes rink before the bubble(Nobody here knows about that do they? tripping over the blue line?)
