Re: 1st Shot - something different
Well, Pat is getting down to the fine strokes. But he's asked a question I'm not 100% on, so I'm looking for your opinions. First today's update
If you look really, really closely in this shot you can see he has actually shaded the side of the mask to make the black "shirt" look like there is a boob under it
The the bra is "right", now he's movin' on to making the rest of the mask give the impression of a shirt. Some grey pearl (hard to see) gives the shirt a neckline/hem. And I'll let Pat explain the button on the forehead (which I think is brilliant.
quote: I made the 'shirt' actually more like a dress...what I did was took the idea of that wrap shirt your wife was wearing in the first set of pics, and added a button to the center. This creates just the movement I had wanted...first you see the mask, then the button immediately draws your eye upward and then of course the cleavage - bam!
and Pluto is coming along nicely too.
Here is my dilema. Should the finish be:
Black in Matte / Flesh in Matte
Black in Gloss / Flesh in Matte
Black in Matte / Flesh in Gloss
What do you guys think?

Re: 1st Shot - something different
This has been a great project to watch! It's a perfect example of the earlier comments I made regarding the individuality and creativity that was shown in the full-face masks, and so desperately needed in the combos. Congratulations.
You can have some fun with the matte/clear issue. If it were mine, I would matte the flesh, and gloss the lace. The dark (dress) area would be a mix of matte and gloss to add to the silk/satin effect. In this case, intermixing the finishes will really help sell the effect.
Keep up the great work.

Re: 1st Shot - something different
Well, Pat (kindly, because I was a spineless wuss) took the decision out of my hands.
Here's today's update.
Pluto complete but w/o clear...
...and with the clear
Almost done! The flesh up top is going to be a Satin Clear.

Finally Done!
Pat sent along some final shots before putting it in the mail today...
I think it safe to say Pat has 100% realized the dreams I had for this design.
I can't wait to take it out on the ice for the first game. It's not going on my head until right before the puck drops, hopefully it'll distract a few shooters!

Re: 1st Shot - something different
We'll see about that Radbear.<grin> I'm an uber-loyal kinda guy. I keep fixin' up my 'ol truck, and drivin' it and drivin' it. I end alot of sentances with "from my cold dead hands..."
However. I can say that this was a great learning experience, and I'm itchin' to do another mask. Realistically, that probably won't happen until next fall. But I can say, it'll have a dash of Espo, and a pinch of old-bolder graphics drawing from Haida sources.

Re: 1st Shot - something different
Thanks for the mammaries...
Really a great job all around.
Can't help but think of this guy
with a much better complexion.
My Mom shared a workout riff, from among her contemporaries, in the 70's:
"We must, we must, we must
improve our bust."
Nice bust line, there big fellah!
