As far as the makers techniques you have to ask them. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Plante)Mon, 28 Feb 2011 21:19:48 +0000 Re: Group of 5https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p255520,from=rss#post255520https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p255520,from=rss#post255520Brian, I recall you did the clay work on the Stephenson pretzel and Tony did the fiberglass work. Do you know the method that Tony used to make a positive fiberglass mask from your positive clay replica model ? Just curious on how Tony would do this. This may be a secret method of Tony's so not sure if its sharable ?nondisclosed_email@example.com (gerg29)Tue, 28 Dec 2010 20:06:54 +0000 Re: Group of 5https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p255515,from=rss#post255515https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p255515,from=rss#post255515quote:Plante wrote: The jacques plante pretzel is dead on accurate. "what's the deal with Pretzels" What was the reasoning behind this kind of mask? As unsafe as those pretzels were, you always have to think that they belong to an era when almost all goalies were wearing no protection at all, and weren't used to the heat and diminished vision while wearing a mask. The guys who decided to try a mask were having a hard time adjusting to wearing facial protection. The idea of the pretzel offered at least some protection, with the maximum ventilation, and since facial masks had almost no holes at the time, pretzels were quite a bit lighter and cooler by comparison to what was being made in full-facials at the time. nondisclosed_email@example.com (MONTREALER)Wed, 15 Apr 2009 15:40:39 +0000 Re: Group of 5https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p244372,from=rss#post244372https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p244372,from=rss#post244372Those are great masks. The first mask was Plant's 59 and it was hot. Because all solid masks are very hot. I know because I wear them. So I think they wanted to make them cooler. At least that is my best guess. Unfortunatly I think they were very dangerous as holes were big and puck or stick could easily go through. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Plante)Tue, 07 Apr 2009 11:49:09 +0000 Re: Group of 5https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p244309,from=rss#post244309https://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/p244309,from=rss#post244309I'm willing to show my ignorance here, by asking....
