Goalie sticks

Hi! I still got these brand new, I'm from Norway, and the Titan was common in early 80's, Koho 231 was popular, and some used the GXL 4 (made in solid ABS plastic wrapped i fiberglass)the goalie of our senior team only used GXL 4 in [sign in to see URL] weighed "twice" of the modern foam sticks.

I read something here about one had been in Sweden and bought a Titan stick. Did you not use Titan in North America? What about GXL 4?

I played with Titans for a season or two in DC. My teamates insisted that I tape my paddle up high so only "TIT" was visible. They thought it was hilarious. But my favorite was the KOHO 231's.

Playing in the 1970's Koho was very common and occasioanly you would see a Titan. Yes I recall a very heavy stick.

[sign in to see URL] remember those titans. Back in 79/80 i faced a dilemma between being able to buy 2 sherwoods or the one titan. I finally gave in to the titan which proceeded to survive one game and 2 practices. While my Sherwoods seem to break "clean" the Titan simply got its blade shredded lengthwise. I never got another Titan, however, I remember them being half the weight of the Sherwoods.

I noticed you taped the bottom of the heel Brian. I did that as well. I was brutal with that part of the stick. Damn heels would blow out faster than any other part of my sticks. I played with many brands. My favorite was the Louisville Lite. They seemed to last just as long if not longer than the other brands. I felt confident in snapping a puck with it and seemed to get better velocity for me.

I think my Dad started me off on that one. Not like 1 layer of tape is going to save the heel.. Just always did it like that.. I guess it protects it a little if not subconciously then.

No, I agree. I think it was a combination of resting on it while action was at the other end. It just got chewed up. I don't know.
