Re: Favell Mask History.

Yes, it's possible but that depends on the type of paint used and the type of remover used, so that it would not damage the underlying coat of paint.

In this case, the blue Leaf is the third paint job stacked on top of 2 others, so it will be quite a challenge - this mask has the evidence of 4 paint jobs total.

I sincerely hope Mr. Favell's real mask is still at the HHOF and that he can retrieve it today or soon.

I am guessing if it were obtained and or restored it would just be sold like the rest?

Hey Frank,
It would nice to have Mr. Favell join us. Do you think he would want to become a member of Classic mask?

I know for a fact that there is no way Doug would deal with guys who come on here being sarcastic , mean and childish , but we wont name names .

If it was going to be striped back, I'd love to see it in the starburst. Solid colors aside, that was one of the first true painted masks. I also assume that would command the most money if selling it is his intention.

Re: Favell Mask History.

The "oil drop" paint job as I'm calling it, does that mask have the d-ring chin strap? We know it was on the forehead leaf mask from photos. Hard to tell in these photos.

If anyone talks to Favell, and he's in a question answering mood, could we find out why he used the strap arangement he used. When the mask was solid orange he used a traditional 5 point harness, but after he had the starburst painted he went to a three point (like a catcher's mask) on the top and forehead straps and a seperate strap at the chin area. I don't recall anyone else using an arrangement like that.
The strap on his stick hand always interested me too. It went from the outside edge of the waffle board to somewhere either across his palm or wrist, I have no idea where it attached, or what it was doing, or what it was made of. It looks a lot like mask strap material in some photos, others it looks like it could have been solid webbing material.

Two Favellisms I've always wondered about.
Thanks\Jon
