Badger flip front mask- 1st certified helmet/cage 1993

Bought this mask because it caught my eye. It is a Steve Badger 1993 mask, it has the flip up front and non-moveable backplate. I think its the first mask certified because the backplate is stationary, making it more of a helmet. The guy played in Finland for a couple years, so thats why the Finlandia sticker, and Finnish ship logo under that. It is really neat, good quality, great display piece, anyone know anything more about these Badger masks?

Are there slots in the backplate, to make it somewhat adjustable, like a players' helmet? I don't know anything about them, but I like that profile. Nice find!

Yes it is somewhat adjustable, you can loosen a couple screws and it moves a little front to back.

I understood that these were certified because if the goaltender were injured the medical staff could get airway access without moving the players neck. They were crappy masks with a very odd shape the only pro I every saw with one was Blaine Lacher during his stint with the Bruins.

Blaine Lacher, shot blocker; "The Lach-Net Monster".
Some of the Hockey East College guys in the '90's, too.

I had owned a Badger mask of that vintage when I was considering playing goal back in the mid '90s. Definitely never saw one of these before. Cool find!!!
