Re: Ken Dryden dressed in red ????
I've never seen a good color picture of the Voyageurs jersey - does anyone know where one could be found?

Re: Ken Dryden dressed in red ????
I really don't kknow what to think about it.
What I found the most amazing is that we had to wait till 2007 to lear about that mask.
Can't wait to have more informations about it.

Re: Ken Dryden dressed in red ????
Well,
Given the fact no one seemed to know he was #25 for them may explain it. Even the sites that list all his stats for all the years he played dont list his number. I just happened to email a guy who had a program from one of his first games and he is listed as #25!

Re: Ken Dryden dressed in red ????
Ok...This could be Dryden. The Montreal Voyageurs only existed for two years and here were the goalies.
1969-70: Phil Myre #1, Lyle Carter #1 and Jack Norris #30.
1970-71: Ray Martyniuk #1, Ken Dryden #25 and Wayne Thomas #30.
So...by process of elimination, Dryden wins.
But I am still not 100% sure. By the way, how do we know this is the Montreal Voyageurs? We can't see the logo.

Re: Ken Dryden dressed in red ????
Ok!
I got news for you!!!!
I'bve been talking to one of my friend yesterday who will join this site soon and who I consider a real specialist about hockey and goalies.
He saw the photo and thought that the goalie with the red mask was probably Ed Walsh or Dave Elenbaas (who played for the Voyageurs) but with a clear preference for Elenbaas.
So I wrote to Dave Elenbaas and here is his answer (he wrote me back in french):
Ce n'est pas Ken ou Ed Walsh. Ce n'est pas moi. Je pense que c'est Jim Shaw qui joué avec moi ma première saison dans La Nouvelle-Ecosse (1973-74).
So he said that it's not him, and it's not Ed Walh. He is positive about the fact that it is not Dryden neather.
As far as he is concern, he think's that the goalie on the pic is JIM SHAW who played with him with the Voyageur in 1973-74.
I never thought that this was Dryden but now it is clear.
I can still make some research about that goalie but now we all know that this is not Dryden (or Elenbaas or Walsh). I think we should go that information coming from Elenbaas himself.

Re: Ken Dryden dressed in red ????
Well that large font type of the SHER-WOOD logo might give away the year. As you can see in the Sports Illustrated in 70/71 they were using the SMALLER sher-wood logo on the sticks. If we can find out what year the logo changed ie look at a few cards books we can likely more accuratly date the photo. I am leaning 73-76 ish! If it were Dryden and he played with them in 70/71 which is the same year as that sports illustrated he would likely have the same small font as the sher-wood on the habs magazine as that's what it looked like that year. I am sure the larger logo didn't come till much later. I don't think it's Dryden if what you saying is true and he played 70/71 with this rare team.
