Re: Combo with a weave finish
Back plate and straps done.
I'm now working on a hole pattern and was thinking what if Ray Nagel made a combo style mask:
Ray Nagel masks:
I need more holes and something around the ear area, not sure if this will work ?
Any thoughts ?
Thanks

Sure, why wouldn't it work? You just have ridges to work between... Nagel did always have a larger hole down by the mouth, and usually used 3 hole sizes, per mask. If you went with smaller holes, you might be able to add more, but then it may look more like a Cossette than a Nagel...

Re: Combo with a weave finish
Hmmm...Interesting idea. Too bad I do not have a picture of the white Nagel mask shown above when I experimented using a Tony Esposito style small cage over the front of the mask. I didn't cut out the middle but even if I had it would look like a Nagel pattern.
Look at my last Nagel mask too on what was his latest pattern (less holes made a stronger mask):http://bvintagegoaliemaskdiscussionpage.runboard.com/t122
The problem I see that in order to give it a Nagel look you need holes running horizontally across the forehead. Nagel on his own style masks didn't use ridges either.
It certainly could be done but you would need to experiment with different templates until you got that Nagel look just right.

Re: Combo with a weave finish
Steve
Thank you for your feedback, I think your right about the horizontal holes on the forehead.
The ridges on my mask get in the way and the mouth area should be more rounded to add more holes, those are two prominent designs of a Nagel.
I'd like to try a Nagel combo from the start but this shell is not right for it.
Kevin
Thank you for your input and add'l images, its all very helpful.
I have a few other hole patterns that I'll post up, any feedback is appreciated.

As you can see I recessed the top part of the cage.
What do you guys think ?
Nsimo, I don't think you should use 'recessed the top' and 'the Hair Club for Men' in the same thread. There are some of us who may be sensitive to that. Not all of us have hairline like Leo where it starts at the top around the eyebrows and ends at bottom of the shins.
I do like the mask though.

Re: Combo with a weave finish
Hate to diss appoint you Coxie, but the bald spot in the back is starting to meet up with the bald spot in the front.
We can all have wash and go hair like Coxie and B.
Nice mask Nsimo
